Leni Klum and dad Seal make rare red carpet appearance together: See the photos
Leni Klum and her father Seal turned the red carpet into a family affair in a rare public appearance Wednesday.
Klum and Seal stepped out onto the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of the Netflix film “The Harder They Fall,” the upcoming western drama starring Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors and Regina King (streaming Nov. 3). The film is written, produced and directed by Jeymes Samuel, Seal's brother.
The premiere, which took place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall, also featured appearances from high-profile stars including Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, Winnie Harlow and Taraji P. Henson.
The father-daughter duo even coordinated their outfits, with Klum wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana dress, accented with a layer of dark crystals, and Seal donning a matching black suit. Klum shared a photo of the two from the event to her Instagram story Thursday.
Seal shares his teen daughter with mom Heidi Klum. The supermodel gave birth to her daughter, who she raised with Seal before the two tied the knot in 2005, after splitting with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore. The British musician later adopted the 17-year-old, and she took his last name.
Prior to Wednesday, the most recent public appearance of Klum and Seal dates back to 2008, during a family outing at The Grove in Los Angeles, according to Popsugar.
The "Kiss from a Rose" singer and Heidi Klum, who called their relationship quits in 2014, also share three other children: daughter, Lou, and sons, Henry and Johan.
Following in her mother's footsteps, Klum made her modeling debut earlier this year, posing for the January/February 2021 issue of Vogue Germany alongside her mom. The 17-year-old model also appeared in a Venice runway show for Dolce & Gabbana in August, wearing a bright blue satin ensemble topped with a sequined crown. Klum previously told Vogue Germany that "it was only a matter of time" before she followed her mom's example.
"The first (modeling) offer came when I was only 12 or 13 from a brand I liked to wear, Brandy Melville," the teen model said. "At that time, I begged my mother, but no chance. Now I understand that it would have been too early."
Her mother said she became more open to the idea of her eldest daughter entering the modeling industry once she turned 16: "If you are allowed to drive a car, you can also have an official Instagram account and show your face,” she told the magazine at the time.
"Obviously, as a mother, (I want my) child to do what she wants to do,” Heidi Klum added. “The industry is great and I love it, and I've been in it for over 20 years but it's also … a lot of traveling – it's different. You have to be a strong person, especially as a woman you have to be very strong.”
