Let's Take Bets on Who's Going to Die on 'Yellowstone' This Season

From Esquire

Wow, so. It seems that the standoff between Market Equities and Yellowstone ranch has reached a boiling point considering that this week, Walker skinned a man alive. Ripping a man's chest skin off his body is a particular kind of evil, especially when it's followed immediately with hanging him. But that's what happens when you use horses to trample Yellowstone employees in a river. This season of Yellowstone has been as inventive as it has been gruesome—you got to give 'em that.

There is only one episode left before Paramount Network's third season of Yellowstone draws to a close. In the most intense season yet, the series has managed to take a hard look into indigenous people's rights and reproductive justice, while sticking close to the gritty Western vibe that pushes the show forward. But Yellowstone also loves a big finale, so with everything we know about the first nine episodes, let's assess who will (or won't) survive next week's finale.

There's really no reason to believe that John (Kevin Costner), Rip (Cole Hauser), Beth (Kelly Reilly), or Kayce (Luke Grimes) are in danger's way. Add Tate in there as well. As the four main people running Yellowstone ranch, that initial quad will surely be on the offense heading into next week's finale. Beth went through far too much last season to be in harm's way this time. Rip is too beloved. No one is killing Kevin Costner, and Kayce has too much going on right now. But do expect them to potentially be on the killing end.

Best Keep an Eye Out

After this recent revelation that Jamie isn't actually a Dutton by blood, it feels more and more inevitable that he's bordering on instability. This episode, after visiting his birth father, a semi-reformed abuser who barely cares to know Jamie, it seems like the guy might be fully unraveled. A Jamie suicide seems unlikely (especially considering he's played by Wes Bentley), it's not out of the question.

As far as ranch hands go, it looked like Teeter (Jen Landon), Colby (Denim Richards), or Walker (Ryan Bingham) might have been on the chopping block, but considering that Teeter and Colby survived and Walker seemingly earned his keep by, um, cutting a man's brand off, it seems that the ranch hands should be fine. Calling them untouchable would be crazy, but after episode nine, they should be safe for now. Then again, Walker was supposed to already be dead, and the Duttons aren't the forgiving type.

If Roarke (Josh Holloway) isn't dead by end of next week's finale, it will be a miracle. The Yellowstone ranchers now know that he hired the men who trampled Teeter and Colby, so Rip is going to be out for blood. Also Willa (Karen Pittman) should keep an eye out because at this point, Beth might just off her for sport.

In a twist though, I think viewers should keep the closest eye out for Monica (Kelsey Chow). After helping Chief Rainwater locate and nix a serial rapist, she's had a taste of what it is to get justice. But one thing about justice is that there is always an adversary working against it. A truly left-field twist (and devastating loss for Kayce) would be a shock death for Monica in the finale.
