Liam Payne's funeral: Harry Styles and One Direction members among friends, family who gathered to pay respects
Mourners came together to remember Liam Payne, who died on Oct. 16.
Liam Payne has been laid to rest.
Mourners gathered at St Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England, on Nov. 20 to remember the former One Direction singer, who fell to his death from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Oct. 16.
Payne's fellow bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were in attendance to pay their respects.
The singer's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, was among the first to arrive, according to Yahoo Entertainment U.K. She was accompanied by model and actor Damian Hurley.
Payne's ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole was also there with their 7-year-old son Bear (not pictured). Cole was supported by her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts.
Other mourners included Simon Cowell, who turned One Direction into superstars in 2010, his fiancée Lauren and former The Late Late Show host James Corden.
A horse-drawn carriage carried the blue coffin for the funeral service. Atop the hearse was the word "son" spelled out in red flowers.
Other floral displays included the word "daddy" in white roses and a bowling ball and pin — a favorite hobby of Payne's.
Payne's dad, Geoff Payne, who flew to Argentina amid the tragedy and investigation, was pictured with his wife Karen outside the private funeral. Payne, who was 31, is survived by his parents, and his sisters Nicola and Ruth.
Onlookers gathered on the street in Amersham, which is northwest of London, to pay a final tribute to Payne, who grew up in Wolverhampton.
The singer was on an extended trip to Buenos Aires when he tragically died after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room at CasaSur Palermo Hotel. He was in a state of "semi or total unconsciousness," local authorities said after an investigation. Toxicology tests confirmed Payne was under the influence of drugs leading up to the incident.
Three people were arrested for "illicit conduct" in connection with Payne's death. They were charged with crimes including abandonment of a person followed by death, supply and facilitation of narcotics.
