'Ray Donovan' star Liev Schreiber wants fans to tell Showtime they want another season
Actor Liev Schreiber is turning to fans of his show, Ray Donovan, for help.
The actor put out a call for his 458,000 followers and others who want more of the Showtime drama to ask the network and its parent company, ViacomCBS, for another season. His plea follows Sunday’s final episode of the seventh season, which left some questions hanging in the air.
“I know the big question on everyone’s mine [sic] is whether there will be a Season 8,” Schreiber wrote in an Instagram post. “Truth is it’s in the networks hands. So if you want more, reach out to them at @Showtime, @RayDonovan and @CBS and let them know how you feel. Either way it’s been an amazing ride and we have all of you to thank for it.”
While Showtime has yet to announce its plans for Ray Donovan, Deadline reported earlier this month that Gary Levine, the network’s co-president of entertainment, suggested it would be off the air soon.
“I think Ray Donovan is nearing the end of its run,” Levine said. “We always talked about seven or eight seasons. Nothing has been decided yet but it’s fair to say it is nearing the end.”
In September, Schreiber himself joked on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival that he’d like to do something a little more upbeat than Ray Donovan after the show ends. Then he said, in all seriousness, that he actually hoped to continue playing the character for the foreseeable future.
“As long as people are interested, as long as people are following the show and enjoying it, that’s so satisfying to be a part of something that is successful and people appreciate it,” Schreiber told ET Canada.
Fans quickly promised their help.
“WHAT!!! There has to be more, I’m going to write everyone,” one wrote. “They just can’t leave it like that.”
A loyal viewer wrote simply, “WE WANT MORE.”
Another vowed, “Reaching out right now!”
