“I am beyond thrilled that My Life With the Walter Boys has been renewed for a second season. We have been overwhelmed by the love and support that the audience has given the show and can’t wait to dive back into the world of Silver Falls and the lives of these characters,” said creator and showrunner Melanie Halsall in a statement announcing the pickup.

The series is produced by iGeneration Studios (The Kissing Booth) and Sony Pictures Television and counts Ed Glauser as exec producer alongside Halsall. Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Johnny Link, Sarah Rafferty and Marc Blucas star in the drama.

“The saying ‘It takes a village’ couldn’t be more true as it pertains to the success of My Life With the Walter Boys. From Ali Novak’s original novel, brilliantly adapted by Melanie Halsall, to our wonderful cast who brought her characters to life, and Netflix’s steadfast commitment, we’re thrilled to continue Jackie’s journey with season two,” Glauser said.

While critics were not kind to the series (38 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences were more favorable, with Walter Boys currently sitting at a 78 percent rating among viewers. THR TV critic Angie Han dubbed the series a “lackluster collection of clichés” in her review and, alongside chief TV critic Daniel Fienberg, dubbed Walter Boys one of the worst shows of the year on the latest TV’s Top 5 podcast.
