Lil Durk Reaffirms Muslim Faith And Denounces Gang Life

Lil Durk is firm in his Muslim faith and swears off his old life as proof. On Sunday (Aug. 18), the Chicago rapper took to Instagram with a new post about his life and where he is mentally. “Don’t label me nothing outside of A MAN A FATHER and A 1000% Muslim – THE VOICE,” the post’s caption reads. He then clarified his statement, taking to his IG Story with more detail about his religious journey and how it conflicts with gang life.

“I don’t gangbang I’m a Muslim,” the Grammy award-winning artist wrote. “Basically what I was saying on my post in so many words you can’t do both ima be the one who say it.”

“So if you follow me as a brother, a friend, an icon, follow me to my new chapter of life,” he added. “When I make music | rap what I seen and been through not telling you to go do it HUGE difference the music won’t change but my life goals will.” Durkio has been on a journey to better himself and his community for a minute now.

In 2022, the rapper made a vow to curb the violence in Chicago and was already brainstorming ideas for bringing peace to his hometown. He then echoed his sentiments of turning a new leaf in his life and his career.

“I’m going to start by getting the city together,” he told Rolling Stone at the time. “To do my part to slow down the violence… Even if you do 99 percent of sh*t right, you still got 1 percent of the demons with you. You get angry fast, and one reply can f**k up a billion dollars. That’s why I’m not saying names no more [in my music]. I ain’t speaking on the dead no more—none of that.”
