Lil Rel Celebrates Weight Loss Journey, Shuts Down Ozempic Usage Rumors
Lil Rel Howery is proud of his weight loss journey, but some fans are convinced his body is built by Ozempic. On Monday (July 22), the Chicago native took to Instagram, where he shared a picture of himself at the red carpet premiere of his new film, Harold and the Purple Crayon. The picture provided a new look at the noticeably thinner and leaner comedian. He explained that he has been dedicated to his health for the past five years and has finally achieved “the best I’ve ever felt and looked in my whole life.” Rel credited his weight loss to his dedication to quitting drinking, eating healthier, and caring better for his spiritual and emotional well-being.
“Whatever you do please do for yourself and if you can don’t take the short cut really put the work in this is a whole just straight hard work nothing else and that’s the honest to God Truth,” Rel typed. “Let me be an example of truly putting the work in. Also please go see our new movie Harold And The Purple Crayon August 2nd in theaters everywhere. #MovieMakingRel #RelTheUpgrade #ProudOfMe.”
Fans immediately swarmed the IG post’s comment section with mixed reactions to the new transformation. Some people showed love to the actor for staying on his path and inspiring them to be more health conscious. “Boy you look like your own lil brother. [lmao] Good work G,” one remark joked. “Your skin has a glow to it! The change from within is showing all over you! You look blessed, you look GOOOODTT!! This is MOTIVATION!,” another account gushed.
Lil Rel’s industry friends and colleagues then popped out to show their admiration. Ludacris, Vic Mensa, Ava DuVernay, Terry Crews, Tina Knowles, and more hit the comment section with pride and congratulations.
But then the comments took a turn. Naysayers began calling Rel out for lying about his alleged Ozempic use and hiding it behind natural weight loss. “Why can’t people tell the truth on how they lost weight,” one person critiqued. “Damn crack is one hell of a drug,” another person shot at the creative. “This ni**a done got on Ozempic,” a woman expressed.
The comedian peeped the comments and arrived two days later with a response. He returned to IG on Wednesday (July 24), where he uploaded a video of him speaking candidly to his critics. He denied using Ozempic and explained that his weight loss journey was natural. “I’m on that Godzempic, Happyzempic, Hardworkzempic, PurposeZempic and just plan on Truthzempic,” he captioned the clip. “I’m grateful and glad I said yes to God assignment on my life and friends still here and gone that kept it 100 with me…#BlessedAndHighlyFavored“
