Lil Wayne Spotted Wearing XO Chain Gifted By The Weeknd, Fans Question Current Relationship With Drake

One of the biggest questions for fans following the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef is what rappers are still on the Toronto superstar’s side. Lil Wayne was recently spotted wearing the XO chain gifted to him by The Weeknd, which is leading fans to believe that the “Miss Me” duo could be on the outs.

Weezy F Baby appeared in the music video for his “High3r” collaboration with Mike Will Made-It and Lil Yachty on Tuesday (Aug. 6). Fans quickly noticed that he had on the diamond chain that he received from the Dawn FM artist, who pointed it out himself on this Instagram story. “The [goat emoji] @liltunechi rocking the XO playing the [guitar emoji],” he wrote in the caption accompanying a screencap of Wayne wearing the chain.

“Make this make sense?” one user said in response. Others were convinced that there was tension between the legendary duo. “Yeah, wayne and drake definitely got beef,” one fan said. “Treachery is afoot.” Another user recalled how the “Lollipop” artist is often unaware of major things taking place in the entertainment space, writing, “Wayne the type to walk in the middle of a shootout and not know wtf going on [crying face emoji].”

This speculation comes after Drake and The Weeknd exchanged disses on “Push Ups,” “Family Matters,” and “All To Myself.” It is seemingly a bit misguided, though, as just a month ago Lil Wayne changed the lyrics of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” in an apparent loyalty pledge to his protege. “They don’t like us,” he chanted while performing “The Motto” in Las Vegas and holding up his OVO chain.

Lamar attempted to cause a fissure in their relationship on “Not Like Us” by referencing a time when the “Rich Baby Daddy” artist had sex with the New Orleans rapper’s partner while he was in jail. “F**ked on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a bi**h apologizin’,” K. Dot rapped. Wayne wrote about the experience in his 2016 book Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island, though he made it clear that it took place before they were dating.

“I woke up still feeling f**ked up about the f**ked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl [daily], but finding out that she f**ked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out,” he wrote. “As a man, honestly, that sh*t hurt, and not because it was Drake. It could’ve been any man, and it would’ve hurt the same. She said it happened way before we got together, but she just never told me. When Drizzy came to see me, he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s true … don’t f**k with her like that ’cause I did f**k her.’ Damn!”
