Lily Collins Makes Bold Declaration About Working With Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock had a lasting impression on Lily Collins when the two acted together years ago in what was the Emily in Paris star’s first-ever movie.
Collins, now 35, has become a well-known figure in Hollywood due in part to her success with her hit Netflix show, which is scheduled to release the second part of its fourth season next month.
But Collins was only 20 when The Blind Side hit theaters in the fall of 2009. She played the daughter of Bullock’s character, who was based on the real Leigh Anne Tuohy, and the adoptive sister to Quinton Aaron’s character, who played NFL player Michael Oher. The film was based on The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, a 2006 book that focused in part on Oher’s time with the Tuohy family.
While promoting her hit Netflix show’s new season, Collins described Bullock as the “kindest, most kickass, badass female” and fondly recalled during a recent interview with Sky News how Bullock had “mothered” her on set.
The Miss Congeniality star "really took me under her wing during that experience and showed me the ropes,” Collins said, adding that she and Bullock “stayed in touch” after the film wrapped.
Bullock, 60, won an Academy Award for her performance in The Blind Side. But Collins said she was paying close attention to the Gravity star long before there was any talk of awards for their film.
“Even when she didn't know she was teaching me, she was teaching me because I would watch her on set,” Collins told the British news channel. In addition to Bullock’s acting choices, Collins said she learned a lot from how the actress treated others and “valued her character.” Watching Bullock also taught Collins that one could “bring your own ideas” to a film.
“I really appreciated and respected the way that she handled a set and herself,” Collins said.
