"A Nightmare Before Christmas"-themed light trail and TCM's "Making Change" series round out our picks for the weekend of Oct. 18.

I owe Sutton Foster an apology. I knew the two-time Tony winner was an incredibly talented singer and dancer, but I did not anticipate how gosh darn funny she was going to be in the current Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress. In a role originated by the incomparable Carol Burnett (and played by Sarah Jessica Parker in the 1990s revival), Foster's physical comedy (and pure stamina) is impressive throughout the retelling of The Princess and the Pea. But there's one pea-erfect moment involving some grapes that has me already buying tickets for when the show hits Los Angeles in December... —Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief

Survive the night… From the moment you hear Jasmine Cephas Jones' silky vocals, Busta Rhymes and RZA's sick rhymes, Joshua Henry's sweet boy band serenades, and Lauryn Hill's gravelly voice fully embodying the role of the ultimate turf warlord, you are transported into the Walter Hill 1979 cult classic that inspired this concept album. But wait — this time around it's an all-female gang that is wrongfully accused, which puts a unique and exciting modern twist on The Warriors that will make you sing out loud: Aw-she-kha! —Yolanda Machado, Staff Editor

The Apple TV series returns with more laughs, cathartic tears, and scenes of Harrison Ford singing (and being our favorite curmudgeon). Season 2 delves into subjects like forgiveness, infidelity, and guilt, all with a blend of heart and humor. We look forward to our weekly sessions. —Maureen Lee Lenker, Senior Writer

Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin were Tony-nominated for this potent and timely Broadway revival, but the Kander and Ebb classic is even more of a must-see with the American Idol alum and Moana voice taking over their roles as the Emcee and Sally Bowles. —P.G.

The New York Botanical Garden morphs into Halloween Town courtesy of a nightly light show (through Nov. 30) featuring over 8,300 square feet of installations as well as photo ops with Jack Skellington & Co., not to mention that wonderfully spooky soundtrack. —Dalton Ross, Editorial Director

Adding their voice to the furor of an election year, TCM's ongoing series unpacks the role movies play in democracy. Upcoming features include director Steven Spielberg talking All the President's Men, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins celebrating The Candidate, and more. Can't beat election anxiety? Embrace it. —M.L.L.
