Lisa Ann Walter brings 'Parent Trap' co-star Elaine Hendrix as date to SAG Awards 2023
Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix are giving us "The Parent Trap" plot twist we didn't know we needed.
Walter and Hendrix, who played Chessy and Meredith Blake respectively in the 1998 family dramedy starring Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson, walked arm-in-arm on the red carpet at the 2023 SAG Awards on Sunday.
Walter, who's nominated for outstanding comedy ensemble performance for her work on "Abbott Elementary," brought her "bestie" Hendrix as her date to the ceremony. Walter donned a glamorous, off-the-shoulder black dress, while Hendrix wore a classic black-and-white tuxedo.
"Lisa called me and asked me to be her date, and I'm like, 'Oh, I'm going to be your date, girl,'" Hendrix said of her dapper look on the red carpet.
"The Parent Trap," a remake of the 1961 classic starring Hayley Mills, starred Lohan as Hallie Parker and Annie James, identical twins who are separated at birth and raised by parents Nick Parker (Quaid) and Elizabeth James (Richardson).
After reconnecting during a chance meeting at summer camp, Hallie and Annie attempt to expose their father’s fiancée, Meredith (Hendrix), for the scheming character she is. Walter's character Chessy, a nanny-figure and housekeeper to Hallie, dislikes Meredith and later helps the twins get their parents back together.
Despite their characters' icy relationship, Hendrix opened up about her real-life friendship with Walter on the red carpet.
"Even though we're best friends, we're also sisters," said Hendrix, adding that the two have bonded over the recent deaths of their mothers. "We've adopted each other, and we have a real connection."

When asked about the possibility of a reboot of "The Parent Trap," Walter said a change would need to be made to Hendrix's character.
"I think in this version we'd have to make Meredith a good guy. We'd have redemption for Meredith Blake," Walter said, to which Hendrix replied, "Wait a minute, she wasn't a good guy in the first one?"
