Lisa Ann Walter Swaps Dating App Stories with “Parent Trap” Costar Elaine Hendrix: 'A Cautionary Tale' (Exclusive)
The actresses became best friends while filming the 1998 movie
Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix help each other in all facets of life.
Twenty-six years after acting as Chessy and Meredith in the iconic 1998 film The Parent Trap, Walter and Hendrix are now commiserating over their dating experiences.
Calling her "my best friend in the world," Walter tells PEOPLE about their friendship dynamic and how they try to support each other in the world of love.
The Centrum's Hot Conversations ambassador says they compare dating app stories and do their best to stay hopeful— even though Walter says she's sometimes wary of her friend's advice.
"She's beautiful and she's charming and she's funny as all get out. I love her dearly. She's also a great caretaker and she's single. So I look at her, I'm like, 'You're a cautionary tale,' " the Abbott Elementary star says. "I look at you and go, 'You're single. How is there hope for me?' So she's more fear factor," she adds with a laugh.
Though their characters in the beloved 1998 film that launched Lindsay Lohan's career were vying to prove what was best for Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid), when the director called cut, Walter and Hendrix were fast friends and have not left each other's side since.
Their bond now extends to looking through each other's dating apps and helping each other pick who to go on a date with, even if it isn't always successful.
"She does send me her choices if either one of us are ever brave enough to go online and on the apps and look at guys," Walter says. "She'll say, 'What about this guy?' And, 'I think that could be fun.' But then we kind of talk each other out of it. So we're not great in that way."
She adds, "She is absolutely stunningly gorgeous, as we all know. She says it's her vegan lifestyle. I'm like, your genetics played a part girl."

In 2023, Walter and Hendrix discovered their deep connection started even before meeting at The Parent Trap callbacks. While Walter was discovering her great-grandparents' neighborhood on Manhattan's Elizabeth Street in Ancestry's unFamiliar series, Hendrix surprised her.
Walter originally thought her friend was there just to be supportive but it turns out that Hendrix's great-grandparents lived just down the block from her own.
Reflecting on the emotional video and their lifelong friendship, Walter told PEOPLE, "I have to call my life partner, Elaine, and tell her that this thing happened or I've got this audition coming or I'm sobbing because some jabroni broke my heart. She just was the person that I called. Everybody has a person they check in with about everything in their life. And Elaine is it for me."
