List of Mrunal Thakur’s South Indian Movies
Mrunal Thakur is among the most beloved actresses in the country. Her acting career began with TV shows, and she further went on to star in Hindi movies. After playing the leading lady in several movies, she also entered the Telugu film industry. So far, the actress has worked on several South Indian films and a list of all of them is below.
Sita Ramam
Mrunal Thakur stepped into the Telugu film industry with the role of Sita, aka Princess Noor Jahan, in the 2022 movie Sita Ramam. The film, which also stars Dulquer Salmaan as Ram, is a romance drama. It follows the story of an orphan, Lieutenant Ram, who receives a strange letter from a woman named Sita. When they meet, they fall in love and get married. However, things don’t go as planned, and a tragedy hits their lives.
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Afreen. The film is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, and its synopsis reads, “On a letter-delivering task, Afreen learns of a 20-year-old romance set amidst a war. Her quest to trace the lovers makes her embrace humanity beyond borders.”
Hi Nanna
Mrunal Thakur’s second Telugu movie was Hi Nanna. Starring opposite Nani, the light-hearted romantic drama has won viewers’ hearts. The movie follows the story of a single father who has been raising his daughter. As his daughter wishes to know about her mother, a new friend in their lives changes the dynamics of their small family.
Directed by Shouryuv, the movie is available to watch on Netflix in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Its synopsis reads, “A 6-year-old with cystic fibrosis recruits the help of an enigmatic new friend to convince her single dad to tell her about her mother.”
The Family Star
Earlier this year, Mrunal Thakur joined hands with Vijay Deverakonda for the family drama The Family Star. The Parasuram directorial was generously bankrolled by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. However, the movie received mixed reviews that resulted in its unimpressive box-office collection. The film failed to entertain the audience much in the theaters but did well in the OTT space.
“Govardhan, a family-oriented man, falls in love with Indu, but misunderstandings over her thesis strain their relationship. Will they overcome these hurdles and find their way back to each other?” reads its synopsis.
Kalki 2898 AD
Mrunal Thakur was one of several star-studded cameos in the latest mythological sci-fi action movie Kalki 2898 AD. Helmed by Nag Ashwin, the film starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and others. She plays the short role of Divya in the movie.
Per ANI, Thakur revealed that she was elated to be a part of the massive movie. “When I was approached for Kalki, I didn’t even take a moment to say yes. I have immense faith in producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka. Our successful collaboration in ‘Sita Ramam’ made this an easy decision. And being part of this mammoth of a project and this absolute visionary filmmaking was something I knew I had to be part of,” she stated.
Hanu Raghavapudi’s next
Mrunal Thakur is allegedly also joining hands with Prabhas for a movie directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. The movie is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers and is allegedly in the pre-production phase. Per a report by Gulte, the pooja ceremony for the movie is scheduled for August 17. Moreover, the movie will reportedly go on the floors by August 24.
Earlier, Raghavapudi confirmed that the upcoming movie would be a period-action drama. For the unversed, Thakur worked earlier with the director on Sita Ramam.
In conclusion, Mrunal Thakur’s South Indian movies are increasing in number. Moreover, the actress has received a lot of love from Telugu-speaking audiences who want to watch more of her films.
