Thursday: Safer Together benefit concert at the Mohawk
For the second year in a row, the Red River Cultural District is partnering with Travis County D.A. Jose Garza’s office and the SIMS Foundation on a two-stage bash intended to raise awareness about overdose death prevention. Overdose deaths in Travis County increased by 25% in 2021. In the first six months of this year, the rate of overdose deaths doubled, with 57% linked to the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl. Synth-pop outfit Night Drive headlines a lineup that also features Trouble in the Streets and Holy Wave. The Pinky Rings, Hotmom and Sad Cell play the indoor stage. The event is free, but donations for the SIMS Foundation will be collected at the door. mohawkaustin.com.

Friday-Saturday: Dayglow at Stubb’s
Sloan Struble watched his dorm-room musical exploits at the University of Texas grow into a viral pop sensation with his 2018 album, “Fuzzybrain.” Last year’s “Harmony House” raised the ante, spawning the hit single “Close to You” and scoring him an “Austin City Limits” taping. In October, he released a new album, “People in Motion,” before leading his band on a two-month North American tour that includes stops in more than 30 cities. Expect Struble to be in a homecoming-celebration mood when Dayglow’s tour concludes at Stubb’s. Ritt Momney opens. General admission tickets are sold out, but preferred-access passes are available for $147. stubbsaustin.com.

Tuesday: Sunny Day Real Estate at Emo’s
"The influential emo outfit had not yet released their Sub Pop debut album when I first saw them in Seattle the day after Kurt Cobain’s death," former Statesman music writer Peter Blackstock wrote earlier this year. "Within a couple of years, Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl had recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith for Foo Fighters. Since then, Sunny Day’s career has been a series of starts and stops; their current tour is the band’s first since 2014. Mendel isn’t with them, but Goldsmith is, joining guitarists Jeremy Enigk and Dan Hoerner plus new bassist Chris Jordan." The Appleseed Cast opens. $33-$36. emosaustin.com.
