Lizzo's Incredible Weight Loss Transformation Divides Fans As Singer Focuses On Her 'Peace'

Lizzo is on a mission to restore her mental well-being. The four-time Grammy Award winner recently revealed that she is stepping back for a while to protect her peace.

The revelation from the rapper comes amid her ongoing sexual harassment case, which a judge had earlier in the year ruled could be moved forward.

Last year, she was accused by her former backup dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, of sexually harassing them and creating a hostile work environment.

Amid her unresolved sexual harassment case, rapper Lizzo announced that she is "taking a gap year." The rapper shared the news on Instagram, adding that she also intends to "protect her peace."

While she did not add any further clarification to her post, it is presumed that fans won't be getting any music or shows from her during this length of time away.

Alongside the announcement, the rapper, who has been on a weight loss journey, also posted a video of herself in a black one-piece swimsuit that snugly hugged her body.

In the video, she can be seen walking barefoot out to the wooden balcony of her room at what appears to be a resort in Bali.

Although it appeared to be raining heavily, Lizzo didn't mind. She looked all relaxed as she stood on the balcony with her hands on the railing. At some point, she raised her hands up while droplets of the rain fell gently onto her body.

Lizzo's announcement was greeted with varying comments from fans regarding the changes her body has gone through.

One fan said, "I don't care what nobody says. Lizzo was gorgeous with the weight, and now, since she lost it, the haters are her biggest fans now, and I don't like y'all because it's not genuine."

Another wrote, "Soon everybody [is] gonna be talking about how great she looks and how fine she is after they've been dogging her about her weight this whole time."

A third fellow noted, "You've changed so much! So much hard work, and it's paying off!"

However, a fourth person asked for the Lizzo of "two years ago," writing, "[Damn] my baby is losing weight. I'm not feeling that. Give me the two years ago, lizzo. You [are] still sexy, though I can adjust."

Some other fans also wished her the best as she proceeded with her gap year, which her video hinted would involve a lot of travel from the rapper.

One wrote, "You deserve it-Enjoy! Ignore anyone who does not bring you joy, as I believe so many want to bring others down to their level of misery. Strength-and much, much peace and joy to you always."

A second user remarked, "Protect your peace above everything else. Love you," while another commented, "Take care of you."

Lizzo Previously Lost A Petition To Dismiss Her Sexual Harassment Case

Lizzo's announcement comes months after a court ruled that the sexual harassment case filed against her by three of her former backup dancers should be allowed to move forward.

The singer and her lawyers had tried to use California's anti-SLAPP statute to get the lawsuit dismissed, claiming that the disgruntled employees were trying to "silence" her.

The statute allows "defendants to strike potentially meritless causes of action early in litigation while obtaining a mandatory fee award," per SFBAR.

However, the presiding judge, Judge Mark H. Epstein, only opted to dismiss some of the claims before ruling that the rest of the case would proceed.

"It is dangerous for the court to weigh in, ham-fisted, into constitutionally protected activity," Epstein wrote in his 34-page ruling, per Billboard. "But it is equally dangerous to turn a blind eye to allegations of discrimination or other forms of misconduct merely because they take place in a speech-related environment."

Part of the accusations leveled against Lizzo was that she coerced the dancers into performing sexually denigrating acts with nude performers during an Amsterdam strip club visit in late February of 2023 while the pop star was on tour.

The "Rumors" crooner also allegedly encouraged "catching dildos launched from the performers' vaginas and eating bananas protruding from the performers' vaginas."

Among other allegations are religious harassment, disability discrimination, racial harassment, and a hostile work environment.

Two of the dancers, Davis and Williams, were fired before they filed the suit in August of that year. Meanwhile, another of her backup dancers, named Rodriguez, voluntarily quit working with the female rapper.

Lizzo has maintained her innocence amid the accusations, despite more claims from online users that her attitude toward her crew is awful.

In one instance, she described the allegations as "false," "unbelievable," and "too outrageous."

She also claimed that the former employees had "already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional."
