LL Cool J Defends Joe Budden After Yung Miami Jokes About “Pump It Up” Gold Plaque: “Some People Never Go Gold!”
Yung Miami found it funny when LL Cool J visited The Joe Budden Podcast and presented Joe Budden with a gold plaque for his 2003 hit “Pump It Up.” The Queens legend, however, stood up for the retired rapper and said he was happy for him.
TMZ caught up with the “Mama Said Knock You Out” artist and asked him for his thoughts on the City Girls member making fun of the situation. “I mean, what can you say?” he asked. “Some people never go gold!”
The interviewer agreed, suggesting the milestone was worth celebrating. “Of course it is,” LL said. “It doesn’t matter, you have artists that don’t go do diamond ’til posthumously. I mean, it’s life. But it’s beautiful for him, [I’m] happy for Joe.” Watch the brief interview below.
LL Cool J was a guest on The Joe Budden Podcast recently and made his visit special by bringing a gift for the polarizing podcaster. He brought him a cardboard box which, upon opening, Budden discovered a large plaque commemorating the success of his most-known song.
The former Everyday Struggle host was visibly flattered by the moment while his co-hosts laughed and said he should dance. “Y’all playin’, that took a long time,” he said. “That was great. That’s nice, I will take it. Humbling moment.” Budden thanked LL for the gift and said that he almost shed a “thug tear.”
Yung Miami, however, found some humor in the situation. She quoted a clip of the moment on X (formerly Twitter) and added several laughing emojis. They had a brief back-and-forth on X before Joe decided to address her on the podcast. “If Complex were to do a list of where all the female [rappers] rank, Caresha, you would be last on the list,” he asserted. “Every female out there is wiping you down right now. Caresha, not only may you be dropped from [your] label right now, but you are not allowed to put music out. I hear ‘Pump It Up’ more than I hear you.”

Yung Miami took issue with Joe Budden because he joked about her last year. In true Joe Budden Podcast fashion, he played “Another One Bites The Dust” when he believed her podcasting career was over. She reminded him of this when she wrote, “Another one bites the dust remember??? You was just celebrating when you THOUGHT I took an L. I can laugh YOU was just laughing at me so LETS LAUGH!”
