Local on the Square closing after 11 years in business in Memphis. Here's what we know.
Local on Overton Square is set to close after 11 years in business.
The Memphis restaurant announced the closure on social media Tuesday night.
"It's been an amazing 11 years with all of you at Local on the Square. Thank you Memphis for your longstanding support, the relationships forged, and the memories made," read the social media post.
Oct. 28 will be the last day of business for the restaurant.
Owner Jeff Johnson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The restaurant is located in the historic two-story building that was formerly home to Yosemite Sam's. It was known for its casual Southern bar food.
In August, the restaurant faltered after a customer found maggots in her meal. On its Facebook page, Local said the maggots were from an ingredient that was recalled by its food distributor after the fact.
Local on Main is operated by a separate ownership and is not affiliated with the restaurant on Overton Square.
