Loki, Scarlet Witch, More Marvel Characters to Get Standalone Shows on Disney Streaming Service
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to Disney’s upcoming streaming service — and we’re not just talking about all those movies the platform will be adding to its catalogue upon launch. Yes, Marvel TV series.
Disney has several standalone live-action shows centering on Loki, Scarlet Witch and other MCU characters in the early stages of development, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
And these limited series — created for the SVOD — are expected to star the actors who play the superheroes on the big screen, with Tom Hiddleston expected to reprise his role as Loki and Elizabeth Olsen expected to reprise hers as Scarlet Witch. Whether this means prequels or new stories set in the future of the MCU will, of course, depend on what happens in “Avengers 4,” since a lot of these characters were, uh, removed from the plot by Thanos.

These shows are the latest in a line of projects Disney is stacking up to fill its SVOD, which is expected to launch in late 2019. There are currently “multiple Star Wars” productions in development, including a live-action series from “Jungle Book” and “Lion King” director (and MCU alum) Jon Favreau.
Marvel and Disney had no comment when reached by TheWrap. Representatives for Hiddleston and Olsen did not immediately respond to request for comment.
