Longlegs Director Releases Trailer For Horror Follow-Up
Longlegs has only just finished frightening theatres but its director already has a follow-up.
The Monkey is the next horror film from Longlegs writer/director Osgood Perkins. Based on the short story by Stephen King, it follows twin brothers Hal and Bill who discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic.
There’s something evil lurking in the toy, however, because a series of gruesome deaths start occurring all around them. Could the toy be to blame?
Be warned, however, it’s not for the faint of heart. “Everybody dies,” says one character in the trailer, but she can’t have imagine them going quite so creatively. One person has their throat slit at a hibachi table while a chef prepares a meal, while another jumps into an electrified pool.
Much like Longlegs, there’s a vein of black comedy running throughout the film, exemplified by a scene in which a baby’s stroller is rolling by on fire, its mother frantically running after it. The Monkey releases February 21, 2025, and the full redband trailer is below.
