A Look Back At Soap Actors On Dancing With The Stars Ahead Of Season 33
As ABC’s Dancing With The Stars gears up for the premiere of its 33rd season, let’s take a look back at all the soap stars who competed in the ballroom.
GH Paves The Way
The very first season of DWTS aired a six-week run in 2005 and featured Kelly Monaco (Sam, General Hospital), who is set to depart from GH next month. Not only did the actress take home the mirrorball on the show’s first season, but she later returned for the All-Star season in 2012 where she came in third place with Val Chmerkovskiy, who would later make a guest appearance on GH.
Between Monaco’s two runs on the show, Antonio Sabato, Jr. (ex-Jagger, GH), Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco), and then-All My Children star Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, AMC, Drew, GH) all competed on the show, while Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax, GH) appeared on the season following the All-Stars.
All My Dancers
Mathison wasn’t the only familiar face from Pine Valley to hit the ballroom. Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, AMC) placed sixth on Season 7, while Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan, AMC) placed ninth on Season 10.
One of the most memorable DWTS contestants was J.R. Martinez (ex-Brot, AMC), who won Season 13 with his partner Karina Smirnoff in 2011, the same year AMC faced cancellation (find out how Lifetime plans to resurrect the soap).
Those Are The Dancers Of Our Lives
In between stops to Salem, Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie, Days of our Lives) placed fourth on Season 2.
Gilles Marini (ex-Ted, DAYS) placed second on Season 8, which led him to competing alongside Monaco during the All-Star season, during which he placed sixth.

DWTS hasn’t seen a soap star since Chrishell Stause (ex-Jordan, DAYS, ex-Amanda, AMC) waltzed her way to eighth place on Season 29 in 2020.
Who should be the next soap star to appear on DWTS? Let us know in the comments.
