Lorde, Ariana Grande, Cher Lloyd Among Nominees for MTV EMA’s First Socially-Driven Award
The MTV European Music Awards will be handing out its first socially-driven award this year during the ceremony airing Sunday, Nov. 10 at 7/6c in the U.S.
Dubbed the Artist on the Rise award, it will be decided by votes cast via Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
Lorde, Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone, Cher Lloyd, Cody Simpson and Bridgit Mendler are the award’s first nominees.

U.S. fans can vote using hashtags assigned to each artist. MTV hopes that the new award gives U.S. fans a stake in the show as it stars in Amsterdam several hours before the U.S. airing. Voting is open now through the moment the award is given.
Here are the voting hashtags: Lorde (#votelorde), Ariana Grande (#votearianagrande), Austin Mahone (#voteaustinmahone), Cher Lloyd (#votecherlloyd), Cody Simpson (#votecodysimpson), and Bridgit Mendler (#votebridgitmendler).

The show’s performers include Bruno Mars Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Kings of Leon, Icona Pop, Snoop Dogg, Afrojack, Imagine Dragons, the Killers and Katy Perry.
Presenters include Jared Leto, Rita Ora, Bridgit Mendler, Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding, Carice van Houten and Colton Haynes with a special guest appearance by Will Ferrell as “Anchorman 2′s” Ron Burgundy.
This year, Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead with the most EMA nominations with five nods each.

Fans worldwide can vote now for EMA categories such as Best Song, Best Pop, Best New, Best Live, Biggest Fans, Best U.S. Act and more by visiting www.mtvema.com through 11:59PM CET on Nov. 8.
