Lori Loughlin faces new charge of money laundering in college admissions scheme
Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are facing an additional charge in relation to the college admissions scandal.
The Massachusetts U.S. Attorney announced Tuesday that the Fuller House actress and her designer husband are among 16 parents charged with the additional crime of money laundering in connection with the scheme. This second indictment charges the defendants with “conspiring to launder the bribes and other payments” through mastermind William “Rick” Singer’s fake charity “as well as by transferring money into the United States, from outside the United States, for the purpose of promoting the fraud scheme.”

According to the documents, the new charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $500,000 or twice the value of the property involved in the money laundering.
This is all in addition to both Loughlin and Giannulli being indicted for conspiring to commit fraud. That initial charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss, whichever is greater.
Both charges are related to the couple conspiring with Singer to get their daughters, social media star Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, into the University of Southern California. They allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to get the girls admitted as part of the school’s crew team despite the women never participating in the sport.
Yesterday, Felicity Huffman — along with 14 other defendants — made a deal and plead guilty to her one fraud charge and she issued a long apology. It seems that prosecutors are now putting pressure on the rest of the defendants to do the same — or potentially face further charges.
