Low-effort Valentine's Day gifts that will show your 'situationship' how little you care
Some of you may have found yourself in a situationship right before Valentine’s Day, and the Valentine's Day marketers are salivated over it. Sweethearts Candies sold out of their Situationship Boxes that have "Messages as blurry as your relationship." We couldn't help but think they were just a bad batch.
A situationship is a “romantic relationship between two people who do not yet consider themselves a couple but who have more than a friendship,” according to the Cambridge Dictionary. These "situations" are generally vague or totally undefined, often because one person wants to be in a relationship or something more and the other person likes the current setup and doesn’t see a future with that person.
Put simply, a "situationship" likely involves someone you call at 2 a.m. to “hang out.”
This is why you are probably not thinking, “What do I get my situationship for Valentine’s Day?”
The answer should almost always be "nothing," because why would you? But in case your real plans go awry, and showing up to a late-night V-Day meetup feels wrong somehow, here are some fun gift ideas to show your situationship you're as uncommitted as they are.
Re-gifted flowers
If you've been ghosted and already spent a few bucks on flowers, why waste them?
Boxed wine or other 'classy' adult beverages from the gas station
If you’re already heading over to your situationship, why not make a stop at the gas station or Instacart some boxed wine to really set the mood?
Nothing says a romantic night, in the cheapest way possible, than wine that either tastes like water or lighter fluid.
Drink responsibly!
Chocolate bars from 7-Eleven
Want to show your situationship how little you love them? Then chocolate bars you picked up from a convenience store should do the trick.
Just make sure you don't get their favorite if you know what that is. You don't want to send the wrong message.
Nip it in the bud with a ‘Goodbye Pie’ from Pizza Hut
If you’re hoping to cut things off with your situationship before Valentine’s Day, Pizza Hut has a way to make things easy for you. You can send a free Hot Honey Goodbye Pie from now through Valentine’s Day and “the delivery driver will deliver the bad news in the best way,” according to their website.
Although these pies will only be available in what Pizza Hut calls the three major U.S. cities for heartbreaks — NYC, Chicago and Miami — you can still have Pizza Hut write a breakup text for you to send instead with a link to a gift card for your future-ex (situationship) to redeem a free Hot Honey pizza.

Nothing!
Just to reiterate, you probably shouldn’t be getting your situationship anything.
In fact, you shouldn’t be in a situationship at all. A piece of unsolicited Valentine's Day advice? Be clear about what you’re looking for and set those boundaries. If the person you're hooking up with doesn’t want that, then find someone who does.
No matter your "situation," wish you a happy Valentine’s Day.
