Lucius, Liz Cooper, More Bring Nineties Covers to Charity Comp for Gun Violence Prevention
Lucius, Liz Cooper, Coco and more have contributed covers of classic Nineties tracks for a new charity compilation, Every Possible Way, raising money and awareness for gun violence prevention.
The new project was helmed by musician/producer Dan Molad, and it’ll arrive on Dec. 13 via 3Sirens. The album’s first offering — Deep Sea Diver’s cover of Yo La Tengo’s “Stockholm Syndrome” is out today — and additional songs will be released weekly in the lead-up to the full compilation’s arrival.

The creation of Every Possible Way was spurred by last year’s Covenant School shooting in Nashville, where three children and three adults were killed. (That it’s being announced the same week as yet another deadly school shooting in Georgia is just a tragic coincidence.)
3Sirens founder Alyssa Graham, who lives with her family just a few miles from Covenant, said in a statement, “Our hope is that, Every Possible Way will help raise funds for a better future where we don’t have to worry about our children going to school or our brothers and sisters crossing the street or our parents sitting in a movie theater. Our hope is that we can be a small part of a much larger change.”
To coincide with the comp, 3Sirens will make a donation to the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund to boost their gun violence prevention work. Fans will also be able to support by streaming and sharing the cover songs, as well as donating on the fundraising platform ShowUp.
“I love the work that Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund is doing, and it was a no-brainer to contribute to this awesome compilation of covers,” Deep Sea Diver said. “I chose Yo La Tengo’s ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ because I love learning their gauzy guitar solos and how this song sneaks up on you in its catchiness and simplicity.”
As for the Every Possible Way track list, it boasts Lucius covering Filter’s “Take a Picture,” Cooper doing the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony,” Coco performing Weezer’s “Holiday,” and Valley Boy covering the Cranberries’ “Dreams.” The comp also features renditions of classic Nineties tracks by artists like the Flaming Lips, Jimmy Eat World, Third Eye Blind, Elastica, and Magnetic Fields.
