Ludacris does surprise show at 3rd Street Market Hall with Milwaukee rapper SteveDaStoner
Ludacris' headlining set at the Tacos and Tequila Festival at Franklin Field Saturday night was cut short due to storms - but a few fans lucked out and got to see him do a surprise "show" earlier in the day.
The veteran hip-hop hitmaker did an unannounced "free concert" at 3rd Street Market Hall Saturday, JBL speaker strapped around his shoulder, with local hip-hop star SteveDaStoner behind him, strutting into the food hall performing "Move (Expletive)." Fear not any concerned citizens out there, he did the clean version, although the same can't be said for a song Stoner played at the market, with Luda acting as hype man.
SteveDaStoner became a TikTok sensation - and one of the Journal Sentinel's essential Milwaukee rappers - posting videos performing a signature dance move to his breakout hit "Barkin'" with kids, jewelery store employees, and even famed Milwaukee lawyer David Gruber. In recent months, as Milwaukee Record has reported, he's made it a habit of doing surprise free concerts in Milwaukee with his JBL speakers at unexpected spots like a Culver's, a Walmart and a Chuck E. Cheese.
And now Luda has gotten in on the act.
Unfortunately, Ludacris' abbreviated Tacos and Tequila Festival set will not be rescheduled. In a Facebook post, organizers said they "were able to closely monitor (the storm) and get in as much of the show as possible," although commenters on social media criticized the festival for not adjusting set times so Ludacris could perform more.
SteveDaStoner though is scheduled to play Summerfest's Generac Power Stage at 7 p.m. Saturday - or maybe you'll see him rap at Kwik Trip or some other random place in town.
