Luke Bryan concert rescheduled to Sunday due to ‘muddy conditions’ at Chesapeake farm

Country music star Luke Bryan is rescheduling his concert in Chesapeake from Friday to Sunday due to the rainy weather that’s persisted this week.

Bryan’s team informed the city of the change Thursday afternoon, citing “muddy conditions.” The concert, part of his Farm Tour, will be held at Heritage Park at 3444 S. Battlefield Boulevard.

The city released a travel advisory due to anticipated disruptions as a result of the concert. Parking opens at 2 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m., and the show begins at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22.

The change of date comes after the concert led four high school football games to be rescheduled from Friday to Thursday. Additionally, two Chesapeake schools decided to switch to virtual learning for Friday and two others planned to release students early due to expected disruptions. It’s unclear if the school will adjust plans in light of the rescheduling.

As part of the traffic plan, there will be no eastbound traffic on Saint Brides Road W, from Battlefield Boulevard South to Taft Road, beginning at 2 p.m. Northbound Battlefield Boulevard South will be closed between Gallbush Road and Saint Brides Road W beginning at 10 p.m. For full traffic plan details visit www.cityofchesapeake.net.

“Our number one priority remains the safety of everyone involved with this event so we appreciate your understanding as we work with the Luke Bryan Farm Tour staff to make these changes,” the city said in a post on X.
