Luke Perry's son poses by his dad's 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' billboard ahead of premiere: 'Love you forever'
Luke Perry’s “proud” son is celebrating his dad’s role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Ahead of the L.A. premiere of the Quentin Tarantino film, Jack Perry shared a video that showed him climbing a billboard featuring his dad in character as Scott Lancer, an actor co-starring in a show with Leonardo DiCaprio’s fading western TV star, Rick Dalton.
The sign, on Sunset Boulevard in L.A., simply says. "Luke Perry is Scott” and Jack, a professional wrestler who goes by the name Jungle Boy, got an up-close look as he positioned himself atop it. The camera zoomed out and music played as the poignant moment was captured.
Jack noted that the “big premiere” of the film takes place on Monday night and his father, who died in March after suffering a massive stroke at age 52, “deserved this,” referring to the recognition. The 22-year-old noted that he’s “very proud” of the late actor, who was also a regular on The CW’s Riverdale when he died. He called his father “a stud in life, and forever after” as well as “the best of the best.”
Jack ended the post with a message directed straight to his dad: “Love you forever.”
If you get the feels watching the clip, you aren’t alone. In the comments, Luke’s former Beverly Hills, 90210 stars also found it touching. Shannen Doherty, who played his love interest on the ‘90s prime-time soap opera, commented to Jack that she’s “with you in spirit tonight.”
Fellow BH90210-er Ian Ziering wrote, “Such an emotional picture JP. You being in it brings tears to my eyes.”
Over the weekend it was announced that Doherty will appear on Riverdale in the show’s upcoming fourth season to take part in a tribute to Luke, with whom she remained close long after their Peach Pit days. Perry’s death will also likely be addressed in the BH90210 reboot when it premieres on Aug. 7.
Luke had two children with his ex-wife, Minnie Sharp — also including a daughter, Sophie Perry, 19, who has been living in Malawi doing humanitarian work. The actor was engaged at the time of his death, to Wendy Madison Bauer, and they were supposed to get married on Aug. 17.
