Lululemon’s New Campaign With Odell Beckham Jr. Is All About Keeping It Cozy

Lululemon has been leaning into athlete partnerships lately. They landed on the biggest stage by outfitting Team Canada for their Opening Ceremony Olympics outfits, and the brand is now partnering with NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. to highlight the brand’s men’s loungewear collection.

While sponsorships are often about showing off athletes at the top of their game, replete with green Gatorade sweat and mantras about winning, OBJ’s Lululemon campaign is all about rest. In the minute-long YouTube spot, wide receivers OBJ and DK Metcalf say “not today” to the many responsibilities and distractions of being a pro athlete, highlighting the importance of R&R when it comes to being your best self.
Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf first partnered with Lululemon last year, becoming the first active NFL athlete to link with the brand. Now OBJ has joined Metcalf to highlight Lululemon’s loungewear collection, which includes relaxed-fit sweatshirts, slides, shorts, and more decidedly laid-back staples.
The collection comes in three fabrics. Steady State is a warm cotton/poly fleece, Soft Jersey is a moisture-wicking and breathable polyester, while Smooth Spacer is a stretchy polyester/modal fabric. Of the partnership, Beckham Jr. said, “Lululemon makes the best performance apparel and they’re bringing the same approach to their loungewear, and it looks and feels great.”
Beckham Jr. and Metcalf will need to maximize their rest days while they can, as the regular season is set to kick off on September 5, 2024. You can check out some of our selects from Lululemon’s loungewear collection below.
