Lupita Nyong’o Remembers Chadwick Boseman 4 Years After His Death

Lupita Nyong’o uploaded a heartfelt tribute to Chadwick Boseman on social media on the fourth anniversary of his tragic death. Taking to Instagram, the acclaimed actress shared two photos, one a black and white image of Boseman and another of them together.

“Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love,” she wrote, quoting an unrecognized source.

“Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”

Boseman passed away on Aug. 28, 2020, after a private battle with colon cancer. Many of his peers and none of his fans were aware of his health issues. Before his death, he and Nyong’o played onscreen lovers in Disney’s Black Panther film franchise. The acclaimed actor was unable of course to reprise his role for the lauded sequel.

“This movie was addressing something that we were experiencing as a cast, it was actually the hardest things that were also the most joyful to film,” Nyong’o explained of creating the film.

“Because it meant that we could make use of our grief, we could bring our grief to work, and it was part of our artistry. So I don’t remember it with heaviness. For me, actually making this film was very therapeutic. And I felt more light than darkness making it.”
