Lyle and Erik Menendez have been in jail for 34 years for the murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. But new evidence presented by the brothers’ attorney last year and a renewed interest in the case thanks to two separate Netflix projects, has brought the brothers as close to release as they have ever been. And on the outside, both have a life waiting for them.

The story of the Menendez brothers was recently depicted in the second season of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and the new Netflix documentary titled The Menendez Brothers. Ryan Murphy’s fictionalized account of the events leading up to the brothers murdering their parents as well as the aftermath of their death has been heavily criticized, particularly for portraying the brothers in an incestuous relationship.

However, the documentary, which features interviews with both, was a clearer look at what’s going on behind the scenes in the case—and what has led to a new hearing which could set them free, and a petition of clemency California Governor Gavin Newsom is set to review. But, with the brothers set to perhaps be released from jail soon, what will their life look like if they really do leave jail?

Erik and Lyle are both married men, but Lyle’s marriage has been the topic of much discussion lately, particularly after reports he’s involved in a “love” triangle and he’s “cheated” on his wife. But who is Lyle Menendez’s wife Rebecca Sneed? How did they meet and when did they marry? Here’s all we know about their relationship.

Lyle Menendez and his wife Rebecca Sneed have been married since 2003. Sneed is currently an attorney, and she was previously a journalist and editor. The two met after Sneed started sending letters to Lyle following his 1990 arrest. The two stayed in contact, later developing a romantic relationship that turned into marriage. Sneed and Menendez remain married to this day, but she recently revealed they are now separated, just as reports he’s “cheating” on her have surfaced.

He is said to now be in a relationship with 21-year-old Milly Bucksey, who reportedly recently visited him in prison. Lyle Menendez was previously married to Anna Eriksson, but their marriage ended in 2001 after he was caught sending letters to another woman.

“Guys! This is NOT a cheating scandal. Lyle and I have been separated for a while now but remain best friends and family,” Sneed wrote in a Facebook post on the brother’s account on Thursday, November 21. “I continue to run his Facebook pages, with input from him, and I am forever committed to the enduring fight for Lyle and Erik’s freedom, as has been so evident over the years.”

She went on to turn the focus on the upcoming hearing and the possibility that Lyle and Erik could regain their freedom. “Please keep this page as the abuse survivor support page Lyle wants it to be,” Sneed added. “I’ll continue to update you all on the progress of the case because I believe we all have the common goal of seeing the guys walk free! I will never stop fighting for them. Please continue to join us in this fight!”
