Macaulay Culkin to host ‘Home Alone’ screening and Q&A at Oakdale Theatre

Macaulay Culkin, now 44 and old enough to stay home by himself, will host a screening of his classic holiday film “Home Alone” on Dec. 14 at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford.

Culkin was 10 when he starred in the comedy as the resourceful Kevin McCallister, whose family goes on a trip and accidentally leaves him behind. One of the biggest hits of 1990, the film was written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. It features Catherine O’Hara as Kevin’s mom and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the two burglars whom Kevin outsmarts.

Culkin will attend the screening and answer questions from the audience.

The Oakdale event is produced by Standing Ovations Live, which specializes in shows where TV or movie stars host screenings of their work. The company hosted Rainn Wilson showing episodes of “The Office” earlier this year at The Oakdale as well as similar events at Foxwoods Resort Casino where Chevy Chase screened “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and John Cusack screened “Say Anything.”

In 2014, Culkin and his band Pizza Underground performed at the Space Ballroom in Hamden. The band played songs by the Velvet Underground rewritten to be about pizza.

There are only 14 stops on Culkin’s “Home Alone” U.S. tour. The Oakdale is the next-to-last one, followed by a Dec. 15 event in Medford, Massachusetts.

Tickets to “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” go on sale to the general public on Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. through livenation.com. There are several presale ticket buying opportunities. Ticket prices have not yet been released.
