Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to headline mtvU's Woodie Awards
As SXSW approaches, so too does mtvU’s Woodie Awards, the network’s annual awards show spotlighting the valedictorians of the indie class.
The event has a knack for getting to rising acts early — last year’s performers included A$AP Rocky and Ed Sheeran, while previous editions featured and awarded the likes of Wiz Khalfia, the Killers, and Kanye West (what did that guy end up doing?).
This year’s Woodies will go down in Austin March 14, and the lineup looks just as promising: mtvU has tapped “Thrift Shop” duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to headline the show, with Brit-rocker Jake Bugg, Mercury Prize winners Alt-J, and young NYC MC Joey Bada$$ rounding out the bill.
Those performers are joining a list of nominees this year, including (yep) A$AP Rocky, fun., Kendrick Lamar, Best Coast, and more, with additional performers to come as well.
For those who won’t be able to make it to Austin for the party, the Woodies will air live on MTV and mtvU this on Sunday, March 17, at 8 p.m ET.
