Madison Beer Explains Why She Says 'No' to Pictures with Fans at Hotels While on Tour: 'Hope You Understand'
The Grammy-nominated singer is currently touring throughout Australia
Madison Beer is setting some boundaries.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, the singer-songwriter, 25, posted to social media to express that she feels uncomfortable snapping photos with fans at her hotels while on tour.
“helllloooo just comin on here bc i've seen some people confused as to why i say no to photos etc at my hotels im staying at,” Beer wrote in a since-expired Instagram Story.
The "Make You Mine" singer continued, "while on tour hotels are essentially my temporary home and i'm entitled to some private time same as anybody else…??.”
"i will also usually say no to pics etc in my hotel bc it also then reveals the location to a lot of other people and unfortunately can put me in danger," she continued. “hope you understand n can respect that ! love u.”
Beer is currently touring Asia and Australia for The Encore, a follow-up to The Spinnin Tour, which kicked off in February. The Encore began in Singapore on Aug. 22 and wraps up in Melbourne on Sept. 2.
Last month, the Grammy-nominated musician released her latest single, "15 Minutes."
The “Reckless” singer’s statement requesting privacy on tour comes shortly afterChappell Roan made headlines for criticizing some fans' “creepy behavior” earlier this month. The "Red Wine Supernova" performer stated that people are not "entitled" to treat her a certain way just because of her star status.
“I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous,” Roan, 26, began in a TikTok shared Monday, Aug. 19.
“I don’t care that it’s normal,” she continued. “I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes along with the job, [or] the career field I’ve chosen. That does not make it OK. That doesn’t make it normal. That doesn’t mean I want it. Doesn’t mean that I like it.”
In another TikTok shared the same day, Roan explained her perspective by asking the viewer if they would treat a “random woman on the street” the same way some fans treat celebrities — yelling, harassing, asking for photos and more extreme behaviors, such as stalking and online attacks.
A week later, the “Casual” singer inspired even more chatter after once again asking fans to respect her boundaries on social media. “For the past 10 years l've been going nonstop to build my project and it's come to the point that I need to draw lines and set boundaries,” she wrote in a lengthy message on Instagram.
“I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don't owe you s---," she continued. "I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”
