Mae Whitman welcomes 1st baby and names him after her ‘Parenthood’ co-star

“Parenthood” star Mae Whitman is a mom!

On Aug. 28, Whitman, 36, announced she had welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Miles, when she shared a photo of her touching his tiny feet on Instagram.

In the caption, Whitman noted that she named her son after her "Parenthood" co-star Miles Heizer, who played her brother in the 6-season drama.

Whitman wrote, "Not to be a Bieber about it but I too just gave birth to our son, Miles. From the moment we heard the first tiny sound out of his tiny piggy mouth we were besotted. He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee and he’s our best friend (pretty much exactly like his namesake Uncle Miles @younggoth)."

"We are infinitely grateful he chose us as his parents," she continued. "Thank you to @kaiserbente and @carynfields and everyone at @moxiebirth and @huntingtonhospital for guiding our little family through all the unexpected twists and turns safely and with love and grace and to everyone in our circle who has shown us such radical generosity and support. We love you! We’re so happy!?? ??????."

Whitman and Heizer have been friends for quite some time. In a 2014 interview with Glamour, Whitman spoke about her friendship with the "13 Reasons Why" star and said he's a "pretty special" guy. She also revealed that they once lived together as roommates.

“He’s lived with me for two years. He’s pretty special. I’ll kill him before I let him leave," she joked. "He’s the most talented musician and actor. I see him taking off — not to mention he’s crazy hot, which is gross ’cause he’s like my little brother. I envision wanting to live in a house next to him for my whole life and grow old down the street from him. I want our families to always be entwined.”

On social media, Whitman has posted a number of photos of her and Heizer together. In 2016, she called him her "knight in shining armor" and in 2014, she referred to him as a "dreamy dream angel."

In May, Whitman revealed that she was pregnant in an Instagram post that she shared with her fans. The post included a slideshow of pics of Whitman's character being pregnant on "Parenthood," including an actual snap of Whitman cradling her baby bump alongside Heizer and Lauren Graham, who played her mom on the show.

"Not to make a parenthood episode out of it or anything but!!! Mother’s Day looking a little different this year! ????can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth! #ruveal," she captioned the post.
