Who makes the Shore's best pizza? In our Pizza Playoff, you decide
Editor's note: Due to a technical error, voting continued past the 11:59 p.m. deadline in the play-in round between Pasquale's Pizzeria in Wall and Zoni's Brooklyn Brick Coal Oven Pizzeria in Middletown. The actual results at the deadline had Zoni's winning 1,174 to 1,026. We regret the error and have taken steps to ensure it does not happen again.
Some people say that pizza is pizza.
We are not those people, and we bet you aren't either.
It's funny how three simple ingredients — dough, cheese and tomatoes — can taste so different, depending on the hands shaping the pie. But not all pizza is created equal, and we want to know whose you think is best in a March Madness-style Pizza Playoff.
How did we decide who to include in our bracket? We eat a lot of pizza, and know where Shore folks go for their pies, so our opinions and yours determined 14 of the 16 Monmouth and Ocean competitors.
The last two, though, are up to you. In the polls below, cast your vote for the final two pizzerias: Pasquale's Pizzeria vs. Zoni's Brooklyn Coal Oven Pizzeria representing Monmouth County, and in Ocean County, Shady Rest Restaurant vs. Anchor Inn.
Votes must be placed by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23. The results will be shared next week.
Last year's playoff: The Pork Roll Playoff champion is ... Beach Shack in Point Pleasant Beach!
