‘A Man on the Inside’ trailer: Ted Danson goes undercover at a retirement home
Ted Danson is on the case.
On Monday, Netflix dropped the first trailer for “A Man on the Inside,” its new comedy series scheduled to premiere on Thursday, Nov. 21. Based on Maite Alberdi‘s Oscar-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent,” the series hails from Mike Schur and stars his “Good Place” lead Danson as Charles, a retired professor who is stuck in a rut after losing his wife a year ago. His daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) encourages him to find something “that excites you.” Charles answers a wanted ad for an investigative assistant aged 75 to 85. He gets hired by Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) and is dispatched to go undercover at the Pacific View Retirement Home, where a necklace has been stolen.

Charles quickly befriends the home’s residents, all of whom are a potential suspect, while trying to throw off the suspicion of Pacific View director Didi (Stephanie Beatriz). The case “sends Charles on an exciting journey that makes him realize there’s a lot more life left to be had — and allows him to reconnect with Emily in the process,” reads the logline.
Sally Struthers, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Margaret Avery, Lori Tan Chinn, John Getz, Clyde Kusatsu, and Susan Ruttan play some of the Pacific View residents. Other cast members include Eugene Cordero, Marc Evan Jackson, Jama Williamson, Wyatt Yang, Deuce Basco, Lincoln Lambert, and Kerry O’Malley.
“A Man on the Inside” premieres with all eight episodes on Thursday, Nov. 21 on Netflix.
