'Walter White, is that you?': Man resembling Bryan Cranston's 'Breaking Bad' character wanted in meth possession case
Police in Galesburg, Ill., are searching for a man in a methamphetamine case who looks a lot like Breaking Bad’s teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White.
After photos of Todd W. Barrick Jr. were posted to the law enforcement’s Facebook page, noting that he was wanted on an arrest warrant, commenters quickly pointed out that the man is Heisenberg’s doppelg?nger. Bryan Cranston, of course, played the role on the acclaimed AMC series.
“Walter White, is that you?” wrote one commenter.
Others wrote, “[Bryan] Cranston is looking rough” and “Heisenberg is alive!!”
There was a slew of show references, including comments like:
“Have you tried Albuquerque?” which is where the show was set. “Perhaps at Los Pollos Hermanos.”
“He's in the house with a pizza on the roof?”
“Well there can’t be that many Pontiac Aztecs left, especially with cracked windshields, so I suggest you start there!”
“Please check the nearest car wash or storage center.”
And some commented using some of Cranston’s most famous lines, including “Say my name!!!” and “He is the one who knocks.”
With the Breaking Bad movie, El Camino, coming out next month there were also references to that.
“Well, I guess we have a spoiler for the Breaking Bad movie...” posted one woman, while another suggested, “He’s hiding til he can see what Pinkman’s been up to in the El Camino movie.” A third wrote, “Netflix is trolling to promote El Camino.”
And the gif game was strong. For instance, this one — of Cranston’s character saying, “You got me.”
Barrick Jr. is being sought by police for violating his probation in a possession of methamphetamine case, according to local news affiliate KWQC-TV. Another funny fact is that he’s also 50 years old — which was Walter White’s age at the start of the show.
While Breaking Bad aired its final episode in 2013, it’s been back in the news because of its new movie, El Camino, starring Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman. It takes place after Heisenberg purportedly met his demise — though fans suspect that Cranston will at least have a cameo.
