“The Mandalorian & Grogu”, “Toy Story 5” and Live Action “Moana” Get New Release Dates From Disney
Disney is shifting its release slate around, revealing updated timelines for some of its hotly anticipated films, including The Mandalorian & Grogu, Toy Story 5 and the Moana live-action flick.
Moana is facing a delay. Initially scheduled for a 2025 release, it has been revealed that audiences will be waiting another year as it has been pushed back to July 10, 2026.
Dwayne Johnson returns to reprise his beloved character of Maui, with Thoman Kail directing. Further casting announcements are under wraps.
It's not the only Moana movie Disney has on the slate as it recently shocked the world by announcing a sequel to the animated Moana film will hit theaters this year on November 27, 2024. Auli'i Cravalho will return to voice the titular role.
Additionally, the mysterious Toy Story 5 received a release date of June 19, 2026, but further information about casting and who will direct and write is currently unknown.
Star Wars fans got some great news, too, as it was revealed that The Mandalorian & Grogu - a spinoff of the Disney+ series - will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

The only details available on that film, however, is that IMDb says that Jon Favreau will serve as director on the project, with the synopsis revealing: Once a lone bounty hunter, Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu embark on an exciting new Star Wars adventure.
Another film got an update, too. Tron: Ares, directed by Joachim R?nning, will be released on October 10, 2025. It stars Gillian Anderson, Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Cameron Monaghan, Arturo Castro, Greta Lee, Sarah Desjardins, Jodie Turner-Smith and Hasan Minhaj, serving as a sequel to both Tron and Tron Legacy.
It's not all sequels, prequels and remakes, however, as The Amateur, starring Rami Malek, Julianna Nicholson, Caitríona Balfe, Rachel Brosnahan, and Holt McCallany, has been confirmed for an April 11, 2025 release.
Similarly, Searchlight Pictures revealed that the new Amy Adams-led Nightbitch also has a release date.
