Mandy Moore is ready to close a defining chapter of her life. The former pop princess and This Is Us star recently listed her Pasadena, California, abode for $6 million. Moore originally snagged the single-story midcentury residence for $2.6 million back in 2017, and fans might recognize it as the home she opened up to AD back in 2018 after completing restoration work.
“It’s the end of an era,” The Emmy nominee wrote on her Instagram page. “Today, our home that we lovingly restored from the studs, is available for its next chapter and owner.” The 3,551-square-foot dwelling means a lot to the “Candy” singer and her indie rock musician husband, Taylor Goldsmith; it’s where they resided when they got engaged, hitched, and welcomed their two sons, Augustus, 3, and Oscar, 19 months. Although the actor did not explain why her family was parting ways with the abode, they are currently expecting a baby girl and have most likely outgrown the three-bedroom, three-bathroom dwelling.
Many of the renovations to the 1950s build involved removing dated additions installed in the early 1990s by its former homeowners. “We looked at the house and realized that we could bring it back with some basic subtraction, as opposed to a complete gut renovation,” Emily Farnham, Moore’s architect at the time, told AD.
The house now clearly showcases the classic markers of a midcentury stunner. Living areas blend seamlessly into one another while floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors reveal lush hills in the distance. Blond brick walls wrap portions of the front fa?ade and can also be found on floors and walls. An original fluted copper hood sits above a smaller stone fireplace that divides the living room and the sunken dining room. Moore and celebrity interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel used the massive hood as a jumping off point for the rest of the home’s decor, which includes highlights like brass inlay on the terrazzo floors, copper-like coffee tables, and touches of blush throughout.
An outdoor kitchen and dining area is ensconced in the backyard’s flowering hedges, while a bench the length of the yard’s pool and spa is shaded by a large sycamore tree. Chaise lounges and a concrete fire pit round out the decor.
