Mandy Moore on life after 'This Is Us': 'I can't fathom not telling these stories anymore'
Mandy Moore dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday to promote her new album, In Real Life. While she was there she also opened up about life after playing Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us.
“It was really hard to sort of say goodbye,” Moore said. “And simultaneously saying goodbye to this character. I'm like, oh, this is like slipping into a pair of comfortable shoes every day at work. I can't fathom, like, not telling these stories anymore, telling the story of this family.”
The series lasted six seasons, so in a way Moore’s fictional family became part of her real family.
“I think for all of us, because even on a film set you grow so close,” Moore said. “You shared such intimate moments with this family.”
Moore, whose performance in the series earned her an Emmy nomination, is now focusing on her music career again. But her time on This Is Us is never far from her heart.
“I think I'm still processing the fact that it's over in a way, because we would typically be shooting right now,” Moore said. “But I'm excited to sort of look forward to whatever's next.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
