Marc Anthony slams 'gruesome' Trump after president calls himself the 'best thing that's ever happened to Puerto Rico'
Marc Anthony is defending his "beloved" Puerto Rico after President Trump's insensitive tweets.
As Puerto Rico braces for Hurricane Dorian, just two years after Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory, Trump shared that he is "closely" monitoring the situation. POTUS then reprimanded Puerto Ricans for not being grateful enough for FEMA in 2017 after being hit by back-to-back hurricanes. He also slammed "the incompetent Mayor of San Juan," Carmen Yulín Cruz.
We are tracking closely tropical storm Dorian as it heads, as usual, to Puerto Rico. FEMA and all others are ready, and will do a great job. When they do, let them know it, and give them a big Thank You - Not like last time. That includes from the incompetent Mayor of San Juan!

Two hours later, Trump tweeted that Puerto Rico "is one of the most corrupt places on earth." He added, "And by the way, I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to Puerto Rico!"
....And by the way, I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to Puerto Rico!

Marc Anthony, who launched a relief effort for Puerto Ricans with Jennifer Lopez in 2017, slammed Trump and his "demented" tweets. "Coming from a gruesome individual like YOU it makes perfect sense," he wrote. "Filled with corruption and incapable of managing a fully staffed HOUSE."
Wow Mr. whatever you are. We all just read your DEMENTED tweet about my beloved Puerto Rico. Coming from a gruesome individual like YOU it makes perfect sense. Filled with corruption and incapable of managing a fully staffed HOUSE.

Many people (and democratic presidential candidates) slammed Trump for the "tone-deaf" tweet.
Go dye your hair, Mary.

So another potentially devastating storm is headed to #PuertoRico and all you care about is being THANKED? You’re a miserable tone-deaf malignant-narcissist sociopath who’s so incompetent and unqualified it’s chilling. Worst president ever... #Trump #HurricaneDorian

There’s a hurricane heading towards Puerto Rico right now. 3,000 American lives were lost in the last major hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico just 2 years ago. This divisive rhetoric is a disgrace and has to stop. pic.twitter.com/xhtEBUEKwp

What kind of leader taunts their own people as they prepare for a natural disaster?
Puerto Rico deserves the full support and aid of our government as Hurricane Dorian approaches. https://t.co/yrIIbhs0df— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 28, 2019
Today @realDonaldTrump writes: "Puerto Rico is one of the most corrupt places on earth. Their political system is broken and their politicians are either Incompetent or Corrupt." Trump really has no idea that he's president of Puerto Rico — and therefore one of "their" politicians — does he?

This was the ”assistance” Trump provided Puerto Rico last time. pic.twitter.com/o9Hbqy2Il9

Puerto Rico's mayor also responded to Trump's criticism amid their years-long feud. "The President has a vanity complex, he thinks everything is about him. He’s a liar and a racist and he continues to try and belittle the people of Puerto Rico," Cruz fired back, saying an insult from Trump is "well received" on her end because that means she is "nothing like him."
