Maren Morris is finally setting the record straight about that infamous denim skirt incident, which occurred last month.

For those who are out of the loop... The 34-year-old country star went viral after her performance at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic concert, wearing a maxi denim skirt with a thigh-high slit that left fans speculating whether she had gone commando.

After weeks of speculation, Maren Morris has addressed the denim skirt incident, putting the rumors that she wasn't wearing any underwear to rest.

Maren Morris' Viral Denim Skirt Incident

Morris wore a thigh-high slit at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic concert that made headlines for seemingly exposing her for "going commando."

“You mean to tell me no one on that stage noticed and tried to tell her!!!” one TikTok user commented on the viral clip. “And commando??!” another wrote.

Now, Morris is confirming whether she really went "commando" or not.

Was Maren Morris Wearing Underwear During That Viral Performance?

The country music singer recently appeared on Cosmopolitan’s "Cheap Shot" series, where she addressed the speculation surrounding the wardrobe mishap that had everyone talking back in July.

“Yeah, against my will, a video circulated recently of me wearing a denim skirt with a giant slit in it. I was wearing underwear. It was nude underwear, but it looked like my whole v-gina was out,” she said, per People Magazine.

Aside from the commando rumor, others accused the act of being a publicity stunt. Morris says that is also false, but not before calling the moment “a little bit iconic."

“Actually, before I put that skirt on, I had another wardrobe malfunction with a skirt before it. So the denim skirt was, like, my backup option," she explained. "I was like, ‘I have to be sure to wear underwear with this.’ I wish I'd worn, like, dayglo underwear so people would definitely know I had it on. But you live and you learn."

These latest comments come weeks after she subtly poked fun at the viral clip. The 34-year-old "Middle" singer took to TikTok with a video, set to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s explicit hit "WAP," showing that she’s not afraid to laugh at herself after the wardrobe mishap.

"Hey guys, did anything weird happen today?!?!” she wrote across the video and captioned it, “I think I’ll frame the skirt.”

The video received praise from her fans.

The 34-year-old singer-songwriter caused quite a stir in August 2022 when she clapped back at Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, for making transphobic comments.

With a snarky response on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Morris wrote, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a sc-umbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.” The response sparked massive controversy, even making her a topic on Fox News.

Now, two years later, Morris stands by her words, even expressing how proud she is of how it all unfolded.

“I don’t really have any tweets that I’ve regretted,” she said on the episode of Cosmopolitan’s "Cheap Shots." “I will say I didn’t think my ‘Insurrection Barbie’ tweet to a certain someone would have picked up so much momentum, but I stand by it.”

The feud between Maren Morris and Brittany Aldean ignited after Aldean, who was selling a line of hair extensions at the time, made a controversial post on Instagram during a makeup tutorial.

The post, which many saw as targeting the trans community, included the comment: “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life."

Morris responded, "Sucks when Karens try to hide their homophobia/transphobia behind their ‘protectiveness of the children.’ Weren’t they putting their kids in ‘Biden-is-a-pedo’ shirts on social media?"

"Sounds like a real safe way to protect them from millions of eyes!" the country music singer added. "F-ck all the way off to Insurrection Barbie and the fellow IB’s trolling this comment section with their hypocritical, hateful a–es.”
