Margaret Qualley Embraces Lace Detailing in Chanel Maxidress for ‘The Substance’ With Demi Moore at Cannes Film Festival 2024

Margaret Qualley attended the photo call for her film “The Substance” alongside costar Demi Moore during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday. This is the second film of Qualley’s that is screening at the film festival. She previously attended the red carpet premiere of “Kinds of Kindness,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

For the photo call, Qualley fashioned a dress with ornate lace detailing from the Chanel fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The chemise-style maxidress featured white and cream hues with semisheer chiffon fabric along the flowing A-line skirt of the dress. The bodice featured a lace design and see-through elements as well.
Qualley elevated the subdued airy look with a pair of black-and-white heels and silver jewelry, including a headpiece that featured delicate stars adorning Qualley’s curly bob. She also accessorized with a pair of black sunglasses.

Qualley was joined by her “The Substance” costar Demi Moore during the photo call. Moore wore a strapless black ensemble with coordinated flats and sunglasses for the photo op. Moore’s look perfectly complemented Qualley’s, providing a stark color contrast.
Qualley’s dress made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week last March, a selection from Chanel’s fall 2024 rtw collection. Helmed by Chanel’s creative director Virginie Viard, the collection featured looks inspired by different decades, with a nod to the French film “Un homme et une femme” (“A Man and a Woman”). Among the designs were 1920s-style blouses with middy collars and pastel-colored tweed skirt suits.
Qualley modeled Chanel’s designs in the past and is an ambassador for the fashion house.
The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival occurs from May 14 to 25. “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig serves as the jury president for this year’s festival, held in the South of France. Several high-profile premieres, including Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” and “Furiosa” starring Anya Taylor-Joy, are expected to take place, while Meryl Streep will receive an honorary Palme d’Or.
