Margo Martindale Boards JonBenét Ramsey Series at Paramount+
Paramount+’s limited series about JonBenét Ramsey continues to attract a high-profile cast.
The latest addition to the show is three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale (The Americans, Justified). She’ll recur as Nedra, the mother of Patsy Ramsey (Melissa McCarthy) and grandmother to JonBenét. The character is described as “tough, blunt, outspoken, and unafraid to speak her mind.”

McCarthy and Clive Owen star as Patsy and John Ramsey, JonBenét’s parents. The cast also includes Emily Mitchell as JonBenét, Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Owen Teague, Clifton Collins Jr., Rory Cochrane, Chris Bauer, Angus Caldwell, Shea Whigham, Will Patton, Jaime Ray Newman and Josh Stamberg.
Production on the series is set to begin soon in Calgary. Richard LaGravenese (Unbroken, Behind the Candelabra) is the showrunner and is writing the series with Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach, who sold the project to producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Anne Sewitsky (Presumed Innocent) will direct four of the eight episodes.
The series will follow the Ramsey family before and after the (still unsolved) murder of JonBenét “as they go through the painful loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by a media frenzy that caused this case to captivate an entire nation,” the show’s description reads. “At the heart of the series, it is the story of Patsy and John Ramsey, exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people — as husband and wife, as mother and father — who had committed themselves and their children to building the narrative of a perfect, privileged life only to have it destroyed one Christmas night in 1996.”
LaGravense, Query and Wallach executive produce with David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin of 101 Studios, McCarthy and Sewitsky.
Martindale’s recent credits include Mrs. Davis at Peacock, Showtime’s Your Honor and the feature film Cocaine Bear. She also narrates the Hallmark+ series The Chicken Sisters. She is repped by Gersh and Wolf Kasteler.
