Marlon Wayans Jokes About DJ Vlad’s Beard, Insists There’s No Beef Between Them
It’s been a few months since Marlon Wayans and DJ Vlad had an internet scuffle over a failed interview, but the jabs are still flying. The comedian joked about the controversial personality’s beard while asserting that they have no beef in a new interview.
“F**k that ni**a,” Wayans told The Breakfast Club. “F**k him and his beard.” Later on, he added “I don’t like his beard. It looks like Trump’s wig on a face. It’s ugly. It’s red, it looks like Gossamer from the Looney Tunes. You know the one that had the sneakers, that monster?”
This humorous vitriol stems from Vlad’s disapproval of Wayans’ asking for $40,000 and 30% of future revenue to interview on his platform in August. Vlad called the actor “delusional” and thought the interview would only get 300,000 views on his YouTube channel. The White Chicks actor proved him wrong by going on Club Shay Shay and racking up 8.6 million views in a September interview with Shannon Sharpe. Watch below.
Despite sending shots DJ Vlad’s way, Marlon Wayans said he has no beef. His main issue was the fact he discussed his compensation request with Aries Spears. “That’s when it got tricky,” he said. “How you gonna tell my business to another Black man about my price? How dare you. Now you’re trying to make us crabs in a barrel. Now you’re trying to make me and Aries, you know, go to war and… that made me go, ‘That’s why I’m not f**king with your platform.'”
He also took issue with how Vlad handled the situation publicly, despite him handling it professionally in private. “I ain’t got no beef with that man,” he stated. “You know what I’m saying? But just, put some respect on my name, bro. Like don’t, don’t come at me like that. I’m a peaceful dude. And if you looked at the text that me and him—the correspondence, you’d be like, ‘Yo, Marlon was a classy dude all the way through.’”
“He messed up when he started talking about my price to other people,” he added. “Y’all know this, your value is what you say your value is. Your worth is what you say your worth is. Yes, I will state the obvious as a Black man: no, you won’t do that to me… We took that position in the eighties to kick open f**king doors to let people know, ‘No, no, no, no, no. This is what we do. This is how you do us.’”
