Actress and media mogul Marsai Martin is bringing the second edition of her annual Sai Summer Cookout to the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.

The Black-ish star revealed on Instagram that this year’s DMV edition is going down on August 24. The event is described as a get-together atmosphere “that feels like one big family reunion.” It promises attendees “the best music, food, games, and most importantly — vibes.”

Tickets went on sale July 16. Students can slide through for $35, and general admission is $60 otherwise. The cookout’s event page states multiple tickets can be purchased at once at a discounted rate.

Attendees must be 18 or older, although 17-year-olds with a college ID are also allowed to attend. The event’s website promises to provide updates on the exact location of this year’s cookout. Organizers are still accepting vendor submissions, and Marsai will handpick up to 20 of them.

“That’s right, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, stand up because it’s your time to show out,” Marsai said in a recent TikTok. “You already know it’s going to be bigger and better. I’m so excited to see how the DMV gets down with us [at] the cookout… Hope to see you there!”

What Can People Expect From Sai Summer Cookout?

The 19-year-old starlet curates the event to be a lively and entertaining day of good food, music, and overall enjoyment. Photos from last year’s event, the first Sai Summer Cookout, show young Black people happily in community and having an amazing time.

The inaugural event took place in Atlanta during Labor Day weekend, drawing over 2000 guests. It included a Soul Train dance line, a mechanical bull riding contest, and a marketplace of Black-owned businesses to shop. Three DJs kept the party going as attendees basked in the summertime vibes, enjoying prizes, giveaways, and food trucks.
