A Martinez, Suzanne Rogers, Santa Barbara’s Jerry Dobson Honored with Gold Circle Awards
We won’t know the winners of the 51st Annual Daytime Emmys until the broadcast next month however, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the folks who’ll be honored with other awards includes A Martinez (ex-Cruz, Santa Barbara; The Bay), Suzanne Rogers (Maggie, Days of our Lives), and Santa Barbara creator Jerome Dobson.
The Winners Gold and Silver Circles
Along with handing out Daytime Emmy statuettes, Gold and Silver Circle awards are given to folks who have put in either 50 or 25 years of enduring contributions to daytime television. According to a press release, these honorees “represent the best and brightest in our industry.”
The 2024 Gold Circle Inductees are Dobson, whose writing credits include General Hospital, Guiding Light, and As the World Turns. He’s best known for his turn as head writer of Santa Barbara, who he created along with his late wife, Bridget Dobson.
Speaking of Santa Barbara, A Martinez, who won the 1990 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role of Cruz Castillo, is set to be given a Gold Circle award. Suzanne Rogers, who celebrated 50 years as Maggie Horton on DAYS, is also being honored. In 1978, she was awarded the inaugural Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series statuette for playing Maggie.
The 2024 Silver Circle Inductees are Patricia Denney, former Hair and Makeup Department Head, The Young and The Restless. (Read out exclusive interview with Denney about her time on Y&R here); Kathleen Finch, Chairman and CEO, US Networks, Warner Brothers Discovery; Linda Grand, Set Master Props, Bold and the Beautiful; Janet Spellman-Drucker, Co-Executive Producer, DAYS; and multiple Daytime Emmy Award-winning GH casting director, Mark Teschner.
Rolonda Watts (ex-Cameron Reese, DAYS), a talk show host, actress, and voice over artist, for such shows as Rolonda, Curious George, and Divorce Court will also be honored with a Silver Circle award.
Returning as hosts for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are Entertainment Tonight‘s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, who are nominated in the category of Outstanding Daytime Personality – Daily. Frazier and Turner are grouped into one nomination along with ET’s Matt Cohen (ex-Griffin, GH), Cassie DiLaura, Denny Directo, Will Marfuggi, and Rachel Smith.
