Marvel Studios To Release Vision Series for Disney Plus in 2026
Marvel Studios is developing a new Vision series and has hired a showrunner to oversee its production. The show will focus on the newly resurrected White Vision and will be released in 2026 on Disney Plus.
As reported by Variety, Marvel has hired Terry Matalas to run the show, who previously acted as an executive producer on Star Trek: Picard. Matalas is also the creator of the Syfy series 12 Monkeys, which was based on the 1995 film and ran for four seasons. Paul Bettany, who has portrayed Vision in the MCU, will reprise his role.
The report also reaffirms that a previous version of the show was in development by WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer. While Schaeffer's attention turned to the upcoming Agatha All Along, Marvel didn't stop exploring the idea of a Vision-focused show.
Early reports indicated that the show may be called Vision Quest, although it's unclear if Marvel will stick with the name following the creative overhaul. This is the second major development at Marvel, following the hiring of a writer for the X-Men reboot.
Marvel Studios has significantly restructured its development pipeline for TV and animated releases. All upcoming Marvel shows will be released under the Marvel Television banner, while animated shows like X-Men '97 will be under Marvel Animation.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has stated that the plan for new Marvel releases has shifted to support quality over quantity, while MCU boss Kevin Feige is confident of the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine resurrecting audience interest in the brand.
