Marvel Teases a Trio of Disney+ Series in New TV Spot

Since April 2019, when Marvel announced a handful of MCU favorites would be gracing Disney’s new streaming platform, fans have been waiting with bated breath for a first look at any of the series. Well, that first footage is finally here. During the Super Bowl, Marvel teased not one, not two, but three of its upcoming series wrapped up in one magical TV spot. Just 30 seconds long, the teaser for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki is everything we’ve been waiting for.

Here’s everything we picked up from the teaser, broken down series by series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

While The Falcon and The Winter Soldier footage only made up a third of the teaser, it was by far the most revealing of the trio. The teaser opens with Captain America’s iconic Vibranium shield but Steve Rogers is nowhere to be found. Instead, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is wielding the shield—but is not picking up the mantle just yet. Meanwhile, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) has finally gotten a makeover. While teased in the concept art released over the summer, Bucky has finally cut his moody locks, sporting a new ‘do reminiscent of his Captain America: The First Avenger look. Also teased in the concept art, we get a look at Sam putting his upgraded Falcon suit to good use as he chases down what we presume to be Zemo’s minions.

Despite being the closest allies of Steve Rogers, Sam and Bucky’s MCU friendship has been tepid at best. But it appears they’re teaming up to take down a resurfaced foe, Baron Helmut Zemo. The teaser also gives us a quick glimpse at Daniel Brühl reprising his role as the Captain America: Civil War big bad, looking as menacing as ever. Emily VanCamp is reprising her role of Sharon Carter, while Wyatt Russell is playing John Walker a.k.a U.S. Agent.

WandaVision

Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are finally living happily ever… right? The WandaVision portion of the teaser is certainly the most mysterious of the three, beginning with Wanda Maximoff and Vision appearing straight out of a black and white Leave It To Beaver world. But something’s not quite right, as we see Scarlet Witch and the android flip back and forth through different sitcom eras.

It’s already been teased that the series will explore Wanda’s journey to becoming Scarlet Witch—a moniker she’s yet to use in the MCU. However, the TV spot further confirmed this with a shot of Wanda in the original Scarlet Witch costume from the comics. Kat Dennings and Randall Park are set to reprise their respective MCU roles, Darcy Lewis and FBI Agent Jimmy Woo. The series also stars Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris, who is set to play an adult Monica Rambeau.

Loki

The God of Mischief’s portion of the teaser is short but straight to the point. Sitting in a darkened room dressed in prison garb, Loki looks directly into the camera and says, “I’m gonna burn this place to the ground.” Classic Loki. Over the course of the MCU, Loki had one of the most redeeming arcs before meeting his end in Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately for his growth, that Loki is nowhere to be found in this new series as the God of Mischief in this series is the one from 2012, the Avengers: Endgame version that snuck away with the tesseract. The series will reportedly feature Loki traveling through time and causing mayhem wherever he goes. Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino have also been cast in the series.

The trio is just a number of Marvel TV series coming to Disney+. Also headed to the streamer are What If?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision will air sometime in 2020. Loki will air in 2021.
