The Marvels Star Hits Back at Critics
Teyonah Parris has something to say to The Marvels haters.
The actor, who plays Monica Rambeau in Marvel’s 2023 superhero team-up movie, is urging them to give it a fair shot following a wave of criticism.
"I think there was a lot of talk, and people hadn't seen it. So that's frustrating when people comment on things they haven't actually experienced," Parris tells People.
The Marvels is the lowest-grossing MCU movie of all time, generating $205 million against a reported production budget of approximately $270 million. It also didn’t review well either, currently sitting at a middling 62% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Whether that’s down to general superhero fatigue, or The Marvels being genuinely forgettable, Parris is taking the opportunity to have her say regardless.

"I would hope that people would give it a fair shot by just seeing it or trying it," Parris continues. "If you don't like the first ten, 15 minutes, fair enough. Your time is precious. But we make these films so that it can be an escape from your real world in a moment for levity and joy and fantasticalness.”
